my shoes let me show you them VERSION 2.0

Remember these shoes? Well if you do the math, it has been over a year since I've had them and I've worn them a LOT. I've worn them so much that they were scuffed up and starting to look ratty and I was starting to not want to wear them anymore. Also they're slightly too big so I have to wear them with thick grandpa socks (which is ok on cold days!). So I decided to take matters into my own hands and PAINT THEMMMMMM!

I started off with the plan to mix up a grey that matched and just retouch them a little bit but when I ran out of black acrylic paint I had to think on my feet (PUNNNNN). The grey was definitely not dark enough yet so I decided to just run with it! I painted the front part and then the back heel part using the stitching as my guide. Then I got into detailing and did the trim! It was hella fun. TAKE A LOOK:

Before (sort of before...before they got all scuffed up):

During:

After:

So cute right? I plan on painting them different colours when this colour scuffs and to just keep painting them until they fall apart because I love these shoes!

cutes boots and other stuff that rhymes

LOOK AT HOW CUTE JOANNA NEWSOM IS. I couldn't care any less about Andy Samberg tbh (I actually heard that he's ugly in person. Where did I hear this? I think twitter? Anyone?) but The Newsom is just constantly adorable. I really really need a big warm coat like her's for this winter. Bonus points if it's green, sooooo pretty. WILL BEGIN PERUSING THRIFT SHOPS.

EDIT: How could I forget to mention her boots? Hollerrrr if you still dig fringe, cause I do.

hair hair everywhere

Why is Stockholm Streetstyle such a relative TREASURE CHEST of beautiful hair? I swear if I didn't only have like 100 dollars in my bank account I'd go out and get my ends dyed blonde you guys. IF ONLY...

I MEANNNNN -Taylor

As much as I tried not to resort to ugly yellow-border watermarked Just Jared photos, I had to because they were the biggest and best available to showcase the wonderment that was BLAIR MEESTER AT THE LOUIS VUITTON SPRING 2010 SHOW IN PARIS, FRANCE, EUROPE, WORLD, UNIVERSE.

One time a really drunk girl in a dive bathroom told me I look like Leighton Meester and all at once I was like OMG THANK YOU and OMG I DON'T THOUGH. I really really really don't at ALL and I'm not saying that cause I have low self-esteem but because I look completely different. But it was a nice thought!

Anyway tangent aside, can we just talk about her shoes and sox combo? SO pretty. Want to wear now. And I'm so jealous that she doesn't look weird and lumpy when she belts a vest over her dress. My much larger chest area completely abolishes that prospect for me, unfortunately.

The Meest has a history of floral, albeit much crazier, pieces. Check Her Braveness out at the Met Costume Gala:

Kinda scary, no?

Just pretend I was never gone

Sooooooooooo ummmmmmmmmmm lets pretend my blog didn't go away for like half a year can we? Good.
I'm a littttttle ashamed that this picture of Lindsay Lohan made me restart my blog but the WHOLE truth is I've been planning a bit of a comeback for a while now cause I miss this thing so bad.
Can we just focus on Lilo tho:

Okay so obviously not everything about this is good (like how her shirt unfortunately says "Avant Garde") but the overall this is LINDSAY and fabulous and looks totally comfy. The love of comfy is something I share with Lohan.

I've decided this fall (I can't even begin to call it Winter yet, it's been so nice in Vancouver and will prob continue to be well into November (knock on wood)) I'm going to live in leggings. I literally had a dream about wearing these high-waist leggings:

Do you guys ever have fashion dreams? I have them sooooo much. So next time you see me I just might be wearing these (and maybe a crop top...)

WELCOME BACK ME

don't let it get you down

"BREAKING NEWS: LA LANPHEAR HAS TRADED IN HER HEELS FOR DANCING SHOES!!!
AFTER SEVERAL RUNINS WITH THE PLATINUM BLONDE, SHE’S MADE IT CLEAR THAT SHE JUST WANTS TO DANCE. LOL. I KIND OF SUSPECTED IT WHEN SHE EXCITEDLY DANCED HER WAY OVER TO ME AT ALEXANDER WANG AND THEN DANCED THE FOLLOWING NIGHT AWAY AT CLUB SANDWICH. SHE TOLD ME OVER DINNER LAST NIGHT THAT WHAT WAS CONSIDERED TO JUST BE WEEKEND SHOES HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED AS HER EVERYDAY SHOES. THEY’RE NOT BY ANY DESIGNER IF YOU’RE WONDERING, JUST SOME LOCAL FIND AT A SHOE SHOP. SHE HAD THE METAL HEEL REPLACED WITH A WOODEN ONE AND NOW SHE FAITHFULLY WEARS THEM EVERYDAY. SHE SAID SHE WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LONG TERM EFFECTS OF WEARING SUPER HIGH HEELS AND WOULD RATHER BE COMFORTABLE DURING THE LONG HOURS OF FASHION WEEK, THAT’S UNTIL PARIS FASHION WEEK ARRIVES AND IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL GAME. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: JUST DANCE, DON’T WOBBLE."

From Jak and Jil

Of course, Jak and Jil is talking about the super stylish and badass Kate Lanphear, Senior Fashion and Style editor for Elle US.

I just love how she found non-designer shoes that she loved and had them re-heeled to make them wearable for every day. It's fun to DIY sometimes but if you don't have the skill-level for something like a drastic alteration, tailoring or shoe modification, don't let it hold you down; you can always get it done somewhere close by, usually for cheaper than you'd think. When my favourite pair of Payless lace-up oxfords lost one of the pieces on its heel, I took them into a shoe-repair shop and had them fixed (the noisy plastic heel-caps replaced with new, better, rubber heel-caps) within a day and for only 6 dollars! I was amazed at how cheap it was and so far my heels have held up swimmingly. It's also nice to frequent local family-owned businesses like seamstresses, tailors and shoe-repair shops because in this economy, they HAVE to do quality work and bring in clients to stay afloat so you know you're getting the best service that can be offered.

Now to find some gold disco shoes at Value Village...

Breaking the silence

What better way to end blog-strike 2009 (not on purpose lol) than a delicious photo of Justin Timberlake with beard and glasses?
